This Item is defiantly a must have! I picked up two of them at a local Walmart. I really only bought it because it is a small, watertight container I planned on using to keep fire starting material for a camping/survival kit. When I opened the canister, there were about 30 or so matches, and a small plastic baggy with striking paper in it, the matches fit rather tight, but with a small pop on your palm they came out fine, so i was rather pleased, i would keep one marked, for the matches, and the other would be marked as my tinder, upon further inspection, i realized how much better this product became, on the bottom, as you can see in the image there is a little black line, well that line turns out to be a piece of flint, while it isn't a very large piece, its enough to save you once or twice, and it throws pretty good sparks from a rather tiny thing, all in all, this is a steal for anyone with an emergency, camping, hunting, or survival kit, get a few, and give em away, its not like... Found these at WallyWorld for a DOLLAR. Much cheaper there. But the case is nice, waterproof and can be refilled with any matches. The matches are not windproof but are supposedly waterproof. Picked up one of these on the cheap locally under the "Coleman" brand name. Seems all the orange ones you see are exactly the same. Closes nice and tight on a rubberized gasket, floats and is waterproof. Put a little wax on the match heads if you want to make the matches themselves waterproof too. The flint on the bottom could be handy - but it isn't sticking out very far. It might be very difficult to reach without a totally flat piece of metal to strike it with.Anyway - It'll definitely do what it's supposed to - keep matches dry. Definitely pick it up if that's what you're looking for :) |
