This review is from: BATTERY OPERATED FLAME LIGHTE (Misc.) We've been using this unit for awhile. I thought the battery operated stick would be better than some of the other manual options. But, this one isn't too well made. The battery compartment that holds the single AA battery doesn't have a good spring-loaded clip that will hold up over time. Pretty soon the battery will stop touching the contacts. Handy red LED shows you whether the battery is working. You need to hold the spark about 2-3 inches from the burner in order for it to light consistently. Resist the urge to shove it right up against the gas escape holes in the burner. It won't work that way.. 6/25/2009: Revision I'm going to revise this to 3-4 stars. After searching out other non-battery, non-butane options, this one works the best - not great - but it's the one I'm using the most. 6/8/2010: Revision I just realized I've had this for more than a year.
