It is quite good. It's lightweight, puts out a lot of heat, and adjusts through a useful range of burner intensity. It's big enough to do two pots or a pot and camping-sized skillet at once. The build quality is fine and what one would expect of Coleman.In some reviews, the red button latch is criticized as a weak point, as is the apparent lack of support for the propane bottle. To mitigate these potential issues, I use a piece of nylon belt webbing and a fastex buckle to hold the stove closed should there be a problem with the red latch. That works great. To provide additional support for the propane bottle, I made a little triangular support out of a scrap piece of 1/4" plywood that fits under the neck of the propane bottle and rests on the ground. One could also use a stick or branch. But this support is probably redundant as the bottle appears to be just fine without it. I did not receive the product pictured. The product pictured at the time of this review is Coleman model # 2000004122. I received model # 2000004126. The model I received is the stove with the more rounded shape, a handle and burner controls integrated into the handle. I had specifically chosen the first model over the second to increase the chance of a griddle we have fitting between the wind shields, and in the hope of gaining finer burner control with the larger knobs.The stove arrived in perfect shape, and the quality appears to be good considering the low cost of the stove. Our griddle does fit, and I find the burner controls to provide plenty of tuning ability, even at low levels. As is likely the case with all Coleman propane stoves, the burners unscrew, which will make it easy to line with foil before a trip. If I had to choose again, I might pick the one I received anyway... Read more |
