The construction is cheap and it is not anything new as far as these types of grills go (as advertized). The packaging from the manufacturer was not done very well either. It was actually damaged a little and some of the finish was worn off. Still, I am going to keep it I think. I don't think you can do much better for the price with other brands. I originally bought the Camp Chef Rainer "duo-stove" but the grill side was too weak for BBQ cooking. I found this Brunton Profile for around $60 and seems to be of similar construction as the Camp Chef (only noticeable difference is the color, igniter switch and pattern of grill plate). Both are lighter-weight construction (easy to pack for me). The BTU output of the grill is great as well as the single burner stove. Packaging for mine was wonderful and quite better than Camp Chef (bubble wrapped instead of plastic sleeve). Overall a great little stove for a reasonable price. I also purchased the camp chef stove carry case which fits the Brunton perfect. The connection hose of the Brunton is nice because it is a rubber hose which can be moved further away from the stove unlike the Camp Chef which attaches directly with a brass fitting. My first warning was the beat up shipping box covered in so much tape it looked like it was mailed by the Unibomber. Then, once I opened the package, the first thing I notices was a pretty big dent in one corner. I was not too thrilled but can overlook a minor cosmetic issue. Then, the grill side does not fit exactly over the burners. Next, the instructions are sketchy at best. If everything worked ok, this might not be an issue but I could not get the starter to spark by following what directions there were and now I'm not sure what to do. I suppose I could start the thing with a match but should not have to. It's brand new after all. In any case, with all this other issues I'm afraid to hook up a gas cannister lest I blow myself up! I may try and call customer service but only to try and return this pile of junk and try and get my money back... Read more |
