This grill fit the bill. Assembly wasn't difficult, but the directions could have been better. The grill itself is sturdy, made mostly of metal. The only plastic is on the lid handle and wheels. For it's size, the grill has good size grilling area. There is no way to lower or raise the gridiron, so controlling temperature has to be done by limiting the number of coals. It also has four side vents (two on each side), and two lid vents.When folded, it does not lay down flat. The lid locks down tight and the pulling handle can retract. It doesn't get as compact as some other portable grills, but does fit easily into my car's trunk. The only problem I had with the grill was when it was folded. Two clamps are used to hold the grill top in place. The grill top would 'pop' loose. This was easily fixed by squeezing the clamps to make them tighter... It would have been nice if the screws would have been named for their different sizes. Once I got it assembled, I was rolling it down the hall to take to my car trunk, and the grill tipped backwards and opened up and the handle literally broke. I had to repack it and take it to UPS and send it back. Amazon was very helpful, and refunded me the next day after I shipped it back.I do hope Coleman will fix the handle problem because if they do, I would consider buying this grill again. I wish they would come up with a charcoal grill that looks like the Roadtrip LXX grill.
